Bio-fuel heat. Renewable electricity.

Every bean we roast in Dorset is heated by energy from what would otherwise go to landfill - spent coffee grounds and hardwood off-cuts from local workshops. The waste fuel charges a thermal store which is transferred to the roaster.

How it works

From waste to heat, in three steps.

EcoRoast turns two everyday waste streams from across Dorset into the heat that powers our roaster. No clever tricks, no new fuel - just a better way of using what already exists.

  1. Collect the waste

    Used coffee grounds from cafés and homes, plus wood off-cuts and sawdust from local workshops, are collected and sorted at our roastery.

  2. Form the bio-fuel

    Grounds are pressed into dense bio logs. Hardwood scrap is dried and chipped. Both release heat steadily and cleanly.

  3. Roast with less fossil input

    The bio-fuel charges a thermal store inside the roaster, which powers each batch. When we do draw on the grid, the electricity is 100% renewable. Conventional gas roasting is off the table entirely.

Every batch of coffee we roast runs on by-products from across Dorset. Spent coffee grounds and wood shavings that would otherwise be go to waste.

Spent grounds from cafés, offices and our own cupping room across Dorset. Pressed into bio logs and used as clean, low-emission fuel for our thermal store.

Hardwood shavings & sawdust

Shavings and sawdust from Dorset wood workshops. A clean, local, renewable fuel that would otherwise be discarded. The heat it releases charges the roaster's thermal store.
